I deliberately avoided traditional feminine colors like pink to convey the female experience without relying on gender stereotypes. However, I felt disconnected from the meaning until, on the third day of painting, I followed my intuition and added pink. This decision instantly deepened my connection to the piece and helped me recognize my own implicit biases when I ignored my creative intuition. I aim for this painting to embody a matriarchal strength within society, regardless of overt femininity.
